For those of you who are interested the Hawaiian traditional dance has been an integral part of the native culture of the Hawaiian islands for thousands and thousands of years. In ancient history the dance was performed for the islands’ royalty and was seen as a very serious ceremony. The words of the songs re-told the long and interesting history of the Hawaiian people and the costumes were often worn with items found in the natural environment. Indeed, the dance had to be performed with no mistakes and if a mistake was made it supposedly brought back luck to the dancer. In ancient times the dance was done topless but in modern times since the arrival of Europeans the dance has been done with a western top. In addition, the music has also been heavily influenced by the west with the main instruments today being the ukulele and guitar.

You will most certainly be very moved by this beautiful native dancing. These extraordinary native dancers of the Hawaiian islands will immediately bring you back to a time period when the ancient Hawaiian traditions ran very strong and the people truly held to their ancestral roots. The dance is just so moving and the luau dancers move so beautifully to the wonderful beat of the singer’s drum. This native dance will be cherished for years to come.
